Peas! Peas are a great source of lutein (kale and other dark leafy greens still top that list though). Lutein blocks “blue light” from sunlight and digital devices. Lutein is the carotenoid that helps with cognition in adults and better academic performance in children. More importantly though, lutein blocks “blue light” from sunlight and digital devices. Blue light can cause eye damage over time.

Frozen green peas are a staple at our house. As a warm side dish with butter on top to boost calories and protein (the kids are eating so much more food these days!) or packed frozen as a school snack. Peas are also a great source of lutein (kale and other dark leafy greens still top that list though).
